Covershots.ai ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Appalytical. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our AI-powered headshot and thumbnail generation services.
WHAT WE COLLECT
- Uploaded photos: The images you upload for headshot or thumbnail generation.
- Generated images: The AI-generated headshots and thumbnails we create for you.
- Account information: Your email address, name, and authentication details provided through our sign-in provider (Clerk).
- Payment information: Payment details are processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number or financial account information on our servers.
- Usage data: Basic information about how you interact with the service (e.g., which styles you choose, generation timestamps).
HOW WE PROCESS YOUR IMAGES
To generate headshots and thumbnails, your uploaded photos are sent to third-party AI APIs for processing:
- Google Gemini API — Our primary image generation provider. Per Google's API terms, data sent through paid API tiers is not used to train their models.
- OpenAI API — Used as a fallback provider when Gemini is unavailable. Per OpenAI's API terms, data sent through their API is not used to train their models by default.
We rely on these providers' published API data usage policies. We encourage you to review their privacy policies directly for the most current information.
DATA STORAGE
- Image storage: Uploaded photos and generated images are stored in Cloudflare R2 (an S3-compatible object storage service). All data is encrypted in transit via TLS.
- Application data: Account and generation metadata are stored in Convex, our backend database provider.
- Authentication: Account credentials and session data are managed by Clerk, our authentication provider.
DATA RETENTION
We retain your image data only as long as reasonably necessary:
- Uploaded photos: Automatically deleted after 30 days.
- Generated images (full resolution): Automatically deleted after 30 days. Download your images promptly after generation.
- Gallery thumbnails: Low-resolution preview images may be retained longer for your account gallery.
- Account data: Retained as long as your account is active.
Automatic deletion is enforced via lifecycle rules on our storage infrastructure. You can request earlier deletion at any time by contacting us.

- Access your data — request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Withdraw consent — stop using the service and request deletion of your data.
